a little weekend getaway....

This past weekend, Kerry, Frugal Beth, AB and I volunteered to help at an awesome scrapping event, Simply Inspired, put on by Elizabeth Avchin of Simply Scrappin' in Lafayette.

We got to rub elbows with the best of the best in the scrapbooking industry! And not only did we help out with the event, there was also time for us to get our scrap on! I am so ready to start creating again (thanks Elizabeth!) .

You know, my friends and I go to these kinds of retreats to scrapbook, get together and cut up, and just get away from everyday life. But by the end of the weekend, it's everyday life I can't wait to get back to. Glad to be home and geared up to hit the ground running on Monday morning.

So to all of my fabulous friends out there, make it a great week!

Peace Out

What a Weekend!

Very, very tired still. Still recovering from Scrapfest.
A busy one at that!
Working on trying out for a design team.
You never know, right?
Four weeks left until Running with Scissors in Birmingham.
Really scared about the run. I can do it on a treadmill but can I hack it on ground? And why is it that I all of a sudden have really bad knees?
Too tired to think.
Later.
Word.

Feeling Crafty..

I just got my new kit from The Girls Loft! Yeah!! I have been playing for a couple of hours now and here's what I've made....
Still have plenty stuff left in this kit! You should check out the kit club!!

And this I made last week. I was inspired by my super crafty friend, Anna Bess Simmons. She taught a class at Scrap N on the River in Natchez a few weeks back and made a banner using a house template. This is my spin on it.

I used a house template and a big hunk o'cedar. Now I just have to find a place to hang it!
Gotta get back to work before the hubs catches me playing again!!!

Dancing in the Streets!

Oh, yeah! Four more days and every mom in my subdivision will be doing the bus stop jig!!
Wish I had a video to post... just imagine Mick Jagger and David Bowie singing
Dancing in the Streets and you'll get my drift.
Start the countdown ladies... I smell freedom!

Where is my medicine!

Ok, is it me or does anyone else out there in the blogging world going insane with an eighteen year old who has just graduated high school, thinks she knows everything, does nothing but sleep and spend time with the boyfriend, has forgotten that she has chores and a curfew, gives away her scheduled shifts at work to someone who "needs" the money (HELLO!), can't figure out how to make a phone call to schedule her placement test for college, is a slob, spends all of her money on fast food, cd's and books, and threatens me with moving in with her dad so that she can come and go as she wishes?

Someone tell me I am not alone. Ugh.

Ahhhhhhh......

What a relaxing weekend! My awesome scrapping friends Stacy, Beth, Anna Bess, Kerry and Megan went to Tickfaw State Park to relax and catch up on our scrapbooking.

We had an awesome weekend just resting, scrapping, talking, laughing ALOT, eating and just plain old nothing! I personally needed it BAD!

Now its back to the real world.... hopefully, my kids will take it easy on me!!!

Tickfaw Here We Come!

Finally! A scrap weekend that isn't work! The girls and I have rented a cabin in Tickfaw for the entire weekend to scrap, laugh and just plain have FUN!

It feels like I have been away from my family a lot these past couple of months. I truly miss them when I am gone. But I have to say, being a SAHM is HARD work. The whole summer thing is about to drive me insane. Seriously, I may need to up my meds. I decided (why, someone tell me why!) to keep them home and not send them to camp. Let me say that this was a BAAAAADDD decision. And now it's too late for camp. I am at wits end with all of the fighting, screaming, running around, did I say fighting, and everything else that goes on when your kids stay home ALL summer. UUGGHH!

So, yes, I will be leaving my family again this weekend. However, at this point in my life, it is necessary for my sanity. And their LIVES!

Scrap Etc. Atlanta!

(1)Me & Jenni Bowlin, (2)Me & Gretchen McElveen, (3)Me & Margie Romney-Aslett, (4)Me & the Gang -minus Beth & Stacy :-( and (5&6)Random bad shots.

Some friends and I just got back from a weekend long trip to Atlanta. An Alabama scrapbook store, Scrap Etc. puts on an awesome event every year and I have been lucky enough to go to three of them. These ladies at Scrap Etc are totally awesome. Although I do not know them personally (I think I'm kind of intimidated??), they are wonderful people and have hosted yet another great event. I got to rub elbows (aka take classes) with the best of the best ... Margie Romney-Aslett, Gretchen McElveen, Jenni Bowlin, Elizabeth Kartchner ... just to name a few. And I scored at the Silent Auction to benefit the Susan B. Komen Foundation! Ms. Gretchen McElveen herself will be completing a layout and a mini book for moi!!! I outbid a room full of women on some other things too but I can't remember what they are!! Now I just have to figure out what pictures to send Gretchen!!! uugghh...
Check out the pics above. Let's just say that Anna Bess was getting warmed up when you see pics with no heads.... (Love ya AB!)

Until next time... peace out.

FREE KITTENS

Guess what happened to me this morning on the way to Maddi's room? I stepped in cat crap and then puke. Sounds great right? What a way to start off your morning. Wait it gets better.

As I am drinking my coffee, slowly forgiving the cat for the presents it has left me this morning, I hear a noise on the porch. What is it you say? A friggin' litter of kittens hiding in my bushes! Do I really need this? Hell to the no!

So, I am disturbed about the poo stuff but who can resist a kitten? And when is the last time you found kittens in your garden and at least one of your children didn't beg you to keep them? Well friends, its not going to happen. Not in this house. Not now, not ever. I already have a cat that can't seem to remember where to excavate.

So now, those little furballs are in a box with a blanket and a bowl of food and water on my front porch. Momma cat, where are you??

Anyone want a kitten?

Just add something else for me to do...

I have no idea why I decided to do a personal blog. This is just one more reason I have to be on the computer. Truth be known, I don't like the computer. I have to check personal email, my business email, husbands business email, my business website and blog and now this. Why, why, why? Can't really say that these posts will be interesting to you, or funny for that matter. It will mostly be whatever pops into my head. And probably written the way it would come out of my mouth. Sarcastic. Whatever. Read it or not.

Oh and that's a picture of me. Weren't my parents great? No wonder I started smoking at the age of 13. (quit about 3 years ago)

Peace.
